One of the largest talking points for Hogwarts Legacy has been the open world that we can explore, which is something we haven’t really experienced in a massive game like this. Now that the game is here, we know how big the Hogwarts Legacy map really is, and we’re definitely in for an extensive adventure.
Not only will players be able to explore the halls of Hogwarts itself, but there are plenty of areas beyond the iconic school for Wizards. Hogsmeade and the wilderness offer up ample room for an open-world adventure, and we’ll cover all of the locations and the size of the map in this guide.
How Big is the Hogwarts Legacy Map?
The Hogwarts Legacy map is nearly 3 square miles all the way around, or nearly 2.95 miles to be exact. This isn’t a map that will blow other games like Elden Ring or Skyrim out of the water, especially since Skyrim alone is about 15 square miles. However, the map seems to be condensed with life and there are underground systems not accounted for as well.
In total, there are 16 major locations that are marked on the Hogwarts Legacy map which students and wizards alike will be able to explore. They are all placed around a map that is split between north and south. The northern half of the map is significantly larger than the southern, but they both are added up to reach those 3 square miles, or nearly 8km squared. Below you can find all of the regions on the map.
