During your Honkai: Star Rail journey, you’ll find all kinds of ways to strengthen your characters. While it’s as easy at first as leveling and equipping light cones, strategizing gets increasingly complicated very quickly. One way this happens is through relics, an equipment type that gives your character set effects and other stat bonuses. However, beyond obtaining and enhancing relics, you can also salvage them! If you want to learn more, continue reading to discover whether it’s worth salvaging relics in Honkai: Star Rail.
Should You Salvage Relics in Honkai: Star Rail?
To give some context on what this means, we’ll first have to talk about relic enhancement. In your character menu, when you select relics and choose one, you can enhance it to raise its level. From here, you can either use other relics as upgrade materials or Lost Fragments to give instant boosts. These fragments – Lost Lightdust, Gold Fragments and Crystal – come from salvaging your relics.
With all that said, should you salvage your relics? In most cases, yes.
When you first unlock and gather relics in Honkai: Star Rail, you won’t have too many to fill up your inventory. You’ll also spend much of your time swapping out new and improved relics and enhancing them, allowing you to burn through relics quickly without filling your backpack.
What about the end game, though? If your characters all have four-star relics, and your goal is to work toward a five-star one, what will you do with the other relics? This is where salvaging comes in. As your backpack fills up and you collect a bunch, inventory management becomes much more helpful. Salvaging these old, weak ones will let you save up Lost Fragments for when you do get your five-star relic, so you can instantly raise it a few dozen levels.

Oh, Lost Fragments also give the same amount of EXP as regular relics. All things considered, the only reason you wouldn’t want to salvage a relic is if there’s a chance you’ll use it on a future character. Otherwise, knock yourself out.
