Similarly to Breath of the Wild, the story of Tears of the Kingdom is not readily available – after the great events at the start of the game, you won’t get much of an explanation of where Zelda went and what happened to the world. However, one of the branching main quests called “Impa and the Geoglyphs” will take you to investigate the mysterious giant drawings that appeared on Hyrule’s surface map. The following quest “The Dragon’s Tears” sends Link on a big world exploration mission to find all 11 Geoglyphs, each containing a hidden Dragon’s Tear.
Finding Geoglyphs and collecting Dragon’s Tears will unlock Memories, which are story cutscenes that provide important lore about Zelda and Hyrule’s history, providing much-needed context for the story of Tears of the Kingdom as a whole.
