I don’t know about you, but I ragequit from games easily. While I at least avoid leaving a game mid-match, I’ve quit many over the years because I just couldn’t handle them anymore. Admittedly, I’ve never actually ragequit from chess, but I understand why someone might if they’re on a losing streak.

With all that said, sometimes we need to delete our accounts for various reasons, including ones unrelated to anger. To learn more, continue reading to discover how to delete your Chess.com account.

How to Delete Your Chess Account

Below is a complete step-by-step guide to deleting your Chess.com account:

  • Mouse over Settings
  • Click All Settings
  • In the options menu, choose Membership/Payment
  • Click Manage Account
  • Follow the steps on the Manage Account page to confirm your identity
  • Tap the “Close My Account” button

After verifying that you would like to close your account, you’ll lose it forever and have your progress wiped. If you want to play again, you must create an alternate account and start from scratch.

Canceling Your Chess Premium Membership

Alternatively, if you want to cancel your membership without closing your account, you can also do this in the Manage Account menu. However, instead of “Close My Account”, click “Cancel My Membership” and follow the page’s steps to pause your subscription. While doing this doesn’t instantly refund your purchase, it’ll cancel its automatic renewal.

If you want a refund on your membership, you can submit a Refund Form request on the official Chess.com website or contact their official support staff to ask any questions you may have about the service.
