Gunfire Games has treated us with Remnant 2, which was received pretty well (on average) by the critics in the reviews before the release. It’s been just about four years since the previous Remnant, and in the tech industry, that’s a lot of time for improvement, so it’s expected that a new game has the latest engine available. The question many players ask is related to the engine Remnant 2 runs on, and I am here to reveal that and provide a few more curiosity insights.
Which Engine is Remnant 2 Running On? – Answered
Gunfire Games decided to use Unreal Engine 5 for Remnant 2. Unreal Engine 5 (or, abbreviated, UE5) is slowly being adopted into the mainstream, and a lot of upcoming (or recently released) games will be using it as well. To name a few: Ark: Survival Ascended, Layers of Fear, and The Matrix Awakens.

Unreal Engine has been the “household” name in the Engine department for a long, long time (a quarter of a century to be more approximate). A lot of popular games use the previous edition of Unreal Engine (UE4) still, and honestly, it still has something to show and isn’t done yet. Unreal Engine is the most popular and most recognizable engine along with Unity Engine at this moment when it comes to the amount of modern games that they are used in. Unreal Engine 5 is expected to “raise the bar” in the gaming industry a bit, and by the end of 2023, we’ll hopefully witness how the upcoming titles on UE5 will make use of the technology.
