Obtaining high-quality armor in Baldur’s Gate 3 is more challenging than you may initially expect. While decent gear isn’t rare, you won’t find it in abundance, and you’ll have to work hard to get the best items. Along the way, you’ll access the Grymforge and Adamantine weapons, but first, you must find Mithral ore as a key component. To learn more, continue reading to discover how to get Mithral ore in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Where to Find Mithral Ore in Baldur’s Gate 3
There are two Mithral ore veins you can quickly find in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Southwest of the Ancient Forge Waypoint (X: -645, Y: 257)
- Near the Adamantine Forge (X: -555, Y: 278)
Be careful while traversing these areas, as obtaining the Mithral ore near the Ancient Forge waypoint requires jumping across lava rocks to reach a small platform. On the other hand, the Adamantine Forge location is guarded by Magma Mephits, who can quickly outnumber and wipe out your party members if they catch you by surprise.

Mithral ore appears as large boulders in the ground with light blue mineral veins across its surface. Since it is sturdy, you’ll have to use melee or ranged attacks to target the ore, as it is immune to elements like fire and cold. Once you break the ore stone, you’ll find a small chunk of Mithral on the ground for your characters to pick up and use at the Adamantine Forge.
To turn the mineral into some gear, insert a mould into the forge’s mould chamber, then use the ore and begin the weapon-making process. Just be careful of the Adamantine Forge’s guardian!
