Some weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3 are more powerful than others. While some swords, shields, and armor have a few helpful perks to give you a slight combat advantage, others are overpowered. The Phalar Aluve longsword is one example, as you can turn this seemingly ordinary weapon into one of mass destruction and chaos, depending on your class and spells. To learn more, continue reading to discover where to find the Phalar Aluve longsword in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Where to Find the Phalar Aluve Longsword in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)
You’ll find the Phalar Aluve longsword in the Underdark at coordinates (X: 115, Y: -194) directly northwest of the Selunite Outpost’s northern exit. After traveling north out of the Selunite Outpost, turn west to see the sword poking out of a large stone. Upon interacting with it, you must use a Strength or Religion Check to discover the correct ritual.
How to Get the Phalar Aluve Longsword in BG3
Once you locate the Phalar Aluve sword in the ground, you have two options for retrieving it:
- Use a Strength Check and roll at least 15 to pull the sword out of the stone.
- Roll 15 or more on a Religion Check to shed blood onto the stone.
The best strategy to obtain the sword depends on your character’s stats and who you have in your party. For example, when I used my Drow Wizard, I had a +3 bonus to Intelligence, making the Religion Check my best bet. If your character has high strength or you have someone like Karlach in your party, the Strength Check is likely the better option.
Use Shadowheart’s Guidance to increase your bonus by 1-4, significantly increasing your odds of succeeding in the roll.
As a small bonus, if you use an Acolyte character like Shadowheart to perform the Religion Check successfully on the sword, you’ll receive inspiration to use on future Ability Check rerolls.
