Squads are extremely important in the Zombies mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. While players can choose to venture solo, having a team to watch your back will make completing objectives easier. Here’s our guide to inviting players in MW3 Zombies.
How Many Players Can You Co-Op With in MW3 Zombies?
You can co-op with up to three players in MW3 Zombies. But since lobbies can have a maximum of 24 players in them, all eight squads of three players could collaborate using proximity chat against the AI enemies. While this may disappoint those accustomed to four-player modes, it aligns with the mode’s vision as a fusion of Warzone’s DMZ and Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak.
Described by Activision as a mode for players to “team up with other squads to survive and fight massive hordes of the undead in the largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever,” Modern Warfare Zombies emphasizes its nature as an “open-world, player-versus-environment (PvE) extraction survival experience.” Consequently, in a Modern Warfare Zombies lobby, players can anticipate others being engrossed in their own story missions and having the freedom to leave the match at their convenience, much like in DMZ.
How to Invite Players to Squad in MW3 Zombies
The Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 3 allows players to form a team of up to three people before starting a game, with each match having 24 players simultaneously. However, players can add another three people to their squad mid-match for a total of six players in one squad.
Adding a few more players to your squad, in-game can be done easily with a few button presses. For controllers, hold Up on the D-Pad and select the “Invite nearby players to join your squad” option with the Right Stick.
The same can be done with the keyboard and mouse using either the Scroll Wheel or Left Alt key. The invite will then be sent to any players in the nearby area, so you will have to be close to other players outside of your squad in the game for it to work.
How to Join New Squad in MW3 Zombies
Zombies players can also send out a request to join another squad within the game. The option is great for solo players or squads that want to group up into a max of six players.
The method can be done in the same way as above, but picking the “Request to join nearby squad” option from the wheel instead. This will send a message to nearby squads in the area, and they can approve you with one button press. It will work if more names are added to the squad menu in the lower left corner.
