Palworld is finally available for players to jump into, but should you play on PC or Xbox? Let’s dive in and find out if it’s worth your time on Microsoft’s home console.
Should You Play Palworld on PC or Xbox?
After playing Palworld for a while on the Xbox, I’m happy to report that the game is playable and worth the download. A variety of updates have been performed for the Xbox Series X|S versions of the game, putting it closer in line with its PC counterpart, and while issues like the compressed audio issues are still present, the overall look and feel have been drastically improved since its initial showing.
The core gameplay functions the same across the board, with both PC and Xbox gameplay working the same. However, there are some things that you may want to know about, especially if you’re planning on playing with friends. The frame rate is stable for the most part, but you may experience some slowdown during heavy action sequences or while things load into the world, but these will continue to be ironed out. Since its initial version, the framerate has been increased from 30 to a nearly constant 60FPS, as well.
Textures have seen an impressive buff as well, as the game looks comparable to a PC playing on Medium or High settings, rather than Low when it was first put onto the systems. As Palworld developer Pocketpair continues pushing out updates, we can only hope to see more of these issues ironed out so we can all experience the same game, no matter where we are playing.
If you’re hoping to start a multiplayer session, you’ll need to make sure that you’re also choosing where you’d like to play. Palworld does have an in-depth multiplayer element, with a surprisingly large number of players, but you’ll all need to be on the same system to play together. There isn’t currently a Cross-Platform function, but it is something that will be added in the future as development continues. There is also no Dedicated Server option on Xbox, so you’ll be limited to the standard number of players in a session, compared to folks playing on PC through Steam.
I tested Palworld on both the Xbox Series X and S, and it’s perfectly playable on both consoles, so you’ll just need to ensure that you’ve got a group of willing players ready to jump in on their console of choice and try it out. Thankfully, those with a Game Pass subscription can jump in at no cost.
