Frank O’Connor, the producer behind the previously released Halo 4, announced during a Halo panel at Comic-Con yesterday that the mobile title, the top-down shooter Halo: Spartan Assault, is available for download on Windows 8 PC and tablets, along with Windows Phone 8. The twin-stick shooter sells for $6.99 and features 25 missions that allow you to explore the origins of the Spartan Ops program, as well as some backstory revolving around the Human-Covenant battles. The game lets you control two different characters over the campaign – Commander Sarah Palmer and Spartan Davis.
It also comes with leaderboard support as well as Achievements and emblems, which you can unlock and add to your profile.
Halo: Spartan Assault is available now. If you’re in the San Diego area for Comic-Con, don’t forget to stop by the Halo Lounge at the Manchester Hyatt this weekend to score some cool goodies and try the game out.
