How to Get to the Broken Plate in the Well in Alone in the Dark
Now that you’ve returned to Derceto, you’ll find that your objective list is quite long. With Batiste’s keys, you can open quite a few rooms, and you’ll need to find the Astronomical Clock and the broken plate for the boiler in the basement.
The steps you’ll need to get to the Broken Plate in Alone in the Dark are:
- (Optional) Go into the Clerk’s Office to read the Broken Plates note.
- Go into the Small Parlor and get the Bolt Cutters.
- Use the Bolt Cutters on the tool shed in the garden.
- Take the hose from the tool shed and connect it to the hose beside the well.
- Turn on the hose.
- Fetch the broken plate.
Head into the Clerk’s Office on the second floor. You’ll be able to access it once you have Batiste’s Keys. Once inside, turn right towards the window that peers into Reception. There, on the desk in front of the window, will be a note that reveals that the Broken Plate is in the well in the garden. When you make it to the Small Parlor, you’ll find that there’s not much to do here yet. But you must examine the door going into the conservatory. Once you do, you’ll find that your world shifts and that the Derceto mansion is on fire. But don’t mind the flames. Head towards the Drawing Room door, and you’ll find Bolt Cutters on the nearby table.
Use these Bolt Cutters to cut open the lock on the Conservatory door. This will turn things back to normal, but now you’ll have Bolt Cutters.
Descend through the conservatory to reach the gardens. Once there, you may as well grab the Mummified Cat that the maid was burying. Beside this location, just behind the white statue will be the well. The Broken Plate is at the bottom of it, and it’s currently inaccessible.
Go to the tool shed in the garden. Knock the ladder beside it just to make reaching the garden easier. Then use the Bolt Cutters on the tool shed to open it. Inside, you’ll find a yellow hose pipe. Connect this hose to the hose beside the well.
Once that’s done, follow the yellow hose back past the tool shed into the little alcove. Here, you’ll find a faucet where you can turn on the water. This will cause the water in the well to rise and you can then fetch the Broken Plate.
But we won’t be able to completely solve the boiler room’s puzzle yet. Next, we’ll need to head to the third floor to get the final Broken Plate.
