Video game special editions continue to become more elaborate, with publishers attempting to outdo the competition with fancier pack-ins to attract hardcore fans. We saw this with Activision’s Destiny Ghost Edition, complete with life-size Ghost replica, and now we have Bethesda’s Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition, so named because it comes with the cool-looking wrist attachment seen in the blockbuster franchise.
Thankfully it’s more than a cool accessory. This Pip-Boy comes with smartphone support, allowing Fallout 4 junkies to sync the device with the upcoming Fallout 4 companion app. After doing this, you’ll be able to manage the in-game Pip-Boy menus from your wrist!
Providing you’re free to cycle through all of the menus, you’ll view the character’s current level, stats, the map, current inventory and even gain access to the Fallout 4 radio using the knob on the right; we imagine the Tune function works with said radio, letting you listen to different stations.
We don’t know what batteries the Pip-Boy takes, but AAs seem like a safe guess. It’s also too early to tell which materials Bethesda will uses to construct this gadget. Metal, plastic or a combination of the two?
The cost? The Fallout 4 Pip-Boy edition can be yours for $119.99, and we suggest pre-ordering immediately since it will be available in limited quantities, and is bound to become a collector’s item upon release. The price may seem high, but at the end of the day, what is money, other than a barrier between you and what you want? We mean that in the most wholesome way.
Fallout 4 releases for PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 10.
