If you’re excited for the release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the Xbox One, then you’ve probably already got tomorrow, December 12 marked on your calendar. PUBG will make its way onto the Xbox One Game Preview program, offering players on the console side of things to check out one of the biggest games of the year. Of course, like any game with a complex control scheme, bringing PUBG over to the console has come with a few hurtles, including translating all of the game’s many controls over to the Xbox One gamepad.
According to Mike Nelson, the team “believe they’ve found the right balance between giving players enough flexibility to survive in the hostile battleground and to effectively manage in-game equipment on the fly.”
This is, of course, a huge deal as being able to quickly switch to a weapon you find in a building is of huge important in PUBG, and being able to do that effectively on the console gamepad is going to be extremely important if the game is going to offer the same experience on the Xbox One. The developers feel that they’ve got it sorted out pretty well, though, and we’d have to agree with them. You can check out a screenshot of the basic controls below.
This is the current control layout for PUBG on the Xbox One, and like many games that translate over to console, some keys will offer multiple things, requiring players to hold or tap the button to pull it off. Some of these controls will even be dependent on whether you hold down the trigger or the button itself, or whether you press it yourself.
Aside from the basic controls, players will have different controls for Aim, Vehicle, Swim, Map, and Inventory. You can As we stated above, PUBG will launch on the Xbox One Game Preview program starting tomorrow, December 12, and fans will get to try the controls for themselves to see it they offer the same flexibility and control that is needed for the game to remain competitive.
