PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a fast-paced game, and seeing your enemies before they see you is an important part of the game’s core mechanics. Of course, being mindful of your surroundings is always going to be important, but at the same time, knowing how to increase your view distance and visibility in PUBG is going to be equally as important. Today we’ll show you how to increase your view distance in PUBG, providing you with even more visibility so that you can see enemies before they see you.
How to Increase View Distance
Now that version 1.0 of PUBG is available, players will want to do everything that they can to ensure they have every competitive advantage available to them. While running the highest settings makes the game look great, sometimes it doesn’t offer players the best advantage. Instead, you’ll find that sacrificing some visuals will not only offer better performance—as seen in our guide on how to increase your FPS in PUBG—but it will also offer you more visibility of enemy players, giving you an extra leg-up in the competition.
Firstly, you’ll want to increase your brightness a little to lighten up those dark corners, which will keep players from being able to hide away in there too much. Secondly, change Anti-Aliasing down to ‘very low’.
You’ll also want to change Shadow Quality, Post-Processing Quality, Foliage and Effects Quality to ‘very low’. Also, make sure you disable Motion Blur completely, to remove that extra hindrance as well.
Once you’ve changed these basic settings, exit the game and locate the game itself in your Library. Once here, right click on the game and click on ‘Properties’. From here, locate the ‘Set launch options’ and enter in the following into the text box:
-USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system -sm4
If you really want to boost your visibility, and get the clearest image possible, then you’ll want to make the following changes in the game’s configuration file.
Navigate to C:\Users\PC NAME\AppData\Local\TslGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Once here, open up the “GameUserSettings” file, which is found inside of the “WindowsNoEditor” folder. From here, locate the follow options and change their values to the values indicated.
Change sg.ResolutionQuality to sg.ResolutionQuality=100.000000
Locate and change sg.ViewDistanceQuality to sg.ViewDistanceQuality=3
You’ll also want to find Screenscale and update it to ScreenScale=120.000000
Making the changes indicated above may cost you anywhere from 10-12 FPS overall, but it will create a much clearer image in the distance, allowing you to better see enemy players before they see you. As we stated above, it’s going to be extremely important for players to make use of any advantage that they can (without breaking any rules or cheating) and this is just one way that players can make use of to increase their visibility and help them stay ahead of the competition.
