Fortnite took mobile players by storm when it first announced its mobile version, which went live on iOS using a closed invite system just a few short weeks ago. Now it seems Epic is ready to open the floodgates, as they’ve just announced that you no longer need an invite to play Fortnite on iOS.
The news comes early this morning, and it means that Fortnite’s mobile experience is set to get even bigger from here on out. If you haven’t kept up with the mobile version of Epic’s hit battle royale game, then we’ll catch you up.
First, the game features the same graphics, engine, map, and weekly updates as the desktop and console versions. One of Epic’s biggest goals with Fortnite on iOS (and Android at a later date) is to provide the same kind of experience on mobile as they do on every other platform. In fact, the game even has cross-platform play, which means you can team up with your friends on console or PC and duke it out to be the last person standing.
There’s a lot to know about Fortnite on iOS. For example, you’ll need an iPhone SE, 6S, 7,8, X, or iPad Mini 4, Air 2, 2017, or Pro to play it. Unfortunately, due to the power needed to run the game, Fortnite won’t run on the following iOS devices: iPhone 5S, 6, 6 Plus, iPad Air, Mini 2, Mini 3, or iPod Touch.
To download Fortnite on iOS, simply head to the App Store and search for Fortnite. It should pop up in the first couple of results. As we said before, Android support is still a ways off for the game, but Epic is working hard to bring the hit battle royale experience to life on both major phone systems, so it is only a matter of time until the game makes the jump and Android users can join iOS owners in blasting their enemies to shreds on the go.
