When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was revealed back in May, fans had speculated that some form of time travel was involved in the upcoming Black Ops 4 Zombies campaign based on the brief trailers that were released at the time. It turns out that those hunches were true. Today, publisher Activision has released the Chaos Story Trailer, which introduces key characters and elaborates on the plot for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies mode.
The trailer introduces Scarlett Rhodes, a woman searching for her father who mysteriously vanished over 15 years ago. Three “loyal outcasts” join Scarlett in her search for her father, as they admittedly owe him a great debt. On their journey, the ragtag group discovers a powerful ancient staff that not only can transform living beings into zombies using dark magic, but can also teleport the group back in time to various eras.
The Chaos Story Trailer reintroduces gameplay from the Voyage of Despair and IX chapters, which were initially revealed back in May when Black Ops 4 was announced. Voyage of Despair takes place aboard the Titanic, where the crew and passengers have been afflicted by dark magic and have turned into zombie-like creatures.
The IX chapter transports the group back in time to a Roman fighting arena, where they must battle vicious zombies and a zombified tiger. Luckily, the group still seems to retain most of their weapons, which include guns, retractable swords, and even throwable melee blades.
Both Voyage of Despair and IX will be playable at launch, alongside a third Zombies chapter titled Blood of the Dead, according to the trailer description. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies will be available when the game releases on October 12 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
