Back in May, when Activision first announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, they also announced the release of a new mode in Black Ops 4, which would bring the frantic action of battle royale to the well-known FPS title. Now, following a successful beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s multiplayer, Activision has finally announced when players will be able to dive into Blackout for the first time with a new beta, coming in September.

For those who haven’t followed the news, Blackout is a battle royale mode that is teeming with all things Call of Duty. The new mode features the biggest map in Call of Duty history, all with the combat and precision that players have come to know and expect from a Call of Duty Black Ops title.
The beta will be available for PlayStation 4 players first, starting on September 10. There’s no current news of when the other platforms will start their betas, but we expect that more news on that will follow soon. If you haven’t checked out the announcement video for Blackout, then make sure you do so soon. It looks to bring a nice bit of variance to the typical battle royale style that has become popular in the past few years.
According to the latest press releases, Blackout will include classic characters from the Black Ops series, as well as a massive map that was inspired by locations seen throughout the Black Ops story. Players will also be able to make use of classic weapons and vehicles, giving them plenty of ways to kill their enemies in true Black Ops fashion.
