Scum is a new survival game from Croteam, and in it players take on the role of a released prisoner trying to survive on a dangerous island filled with other players, zombies, and dangerous mechs. You can make weapons which can help you along the way. One of the most basic weapons is the wooden spear in Scum. If you want to survive the first few hours of your time in the game, then you’re going to need to learn how to craft the wooden spear in Scum, the most basic weapon in the game.
How to Make a Wooden Spear
Once you make it through the character creation and first get started in Scum, you’re going to find yourself with not much more than just your fists. This means you’re going to need to start looking for weapons and gear pretty quickly if you want to survive. The easiest weapon you can make in the game is a Wooden Spear, which you can make as soon as you spawn in.
Start by looking down at the ground until you see a prompt to “Search for Rocks”. You can do this by pressing F. Once this is done, you’ll search for a few moments. If you manage to find any rocks, they’ll appear around you, glowing blue for a short time. You can also open up your Inventory and look in the ‘Vicinity’ area to see any items currently on the ground directly around you.
Now, head to the crafting list in your inventory and look for the ‘knife’. Craft this item using two rocks. Once you have the knife, it’s time to move on to the next portion of crafting your Wooden Spear. Make sure you have the knife in your inventory, then head up to a small bush or a tree and press F. This will allow you to cut down the item with your knife, giving you access to sticks.
You will need a particular stick if you want to make a Wooden Spear. Look around on the ground for a Long Stick. Once you find one, open up your Inventory and pick up the items. From here you should be able to craft the Wooden Spear from the crafting list. With the spear in hand, it’s time to get to hunting and scavenging for more items and supplies.
