How to Fast Travel in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Move as swiftly as a shinobi and find out how to fast travel in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is largely a linear game, but you’ll have a few different paths to work through in the world. Running back and forth between each of these routes would be extremely time consuming, but thankfully FromSoftware has included the ability to fast travel between different areas. For anyone who’s played a Soulborne game this will be familiar territory, but in case you’re new to FromSoftware games, this guide will teach you how to fast travel in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

You’ll spend most of your time running around on foot in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, but when you need to get places quickly, fast travel will save you some time. You can’t just teleport to and from anywhere though, to fast travel you need to visit a Sculptor’s Idol. Much like bonfires in Dark Souls, Sculptor’s Idols act as save points and travel points. When you find one, interact with it by pressing Square on PlayStation 4 or X on Xbox One.

Once you’ve rested at a Sculptor’s Idol it’ll unlock as a fast travel point in the world. Open up your map and select one of the Sculptor’s Idols you’ve already visited and you’ll be able to fast travel there. For this reason it’s worth exploring to find as many Sculptor’s Idols as you can, making it far easier to travel the map quickly when needed.

Fast travel is important because you’ll need to jump back and forth between Sekiro’s many paths as you progress through the story. Often to progress on one route you’ll be rewarded by exploring another path to obtain equipment or further skill points.

As well as fast travel, Sculptor’s Idols give you a nice bit of breathing room when you find them, and let you check out important stats like what percentage your Unseed Aid is currently at. They also act as save points, automatically logging your progress whenever you rest at one.
