Valorant Hit Over 1.3 Million Viewers On Twitch After Just One Hour of Being Live

Valorant is on pace for being the next big thing in online gaming and Twitch more than has its back.

When Riot Games, the studio behind League of Legends, debuted Valorant, gamers immediately likened it to games like CS:GO and Overwatch and hailed its potential to be the next Big ThingTM in online gaming. With so many eyes on Valorant, it’s not surprising that when the game went public on Twitch it had many eyes on it but what was impressively surprising was just how many. After barely an hour online, Valorant already amassed over 1.3 million viewers on the streaming platform.

At the time this article was written, Valorant was fast-approaching 1.5 million viewers on Twitch, which is stunning given that it just went live today. The closed beta is going on now and Riot is paying special attention to making sure those with codes are those actually playing the game, which is a great sign for those interested in this new adventure when looking at the amount of quality control the team is putting towards access granted.

Valorant, for those that may have missed the initial reveal, is a 5v5 character-based tactical shooter not unlike that of the wildly popular CS:GO. The design is simple but challenges players to be intuned with their strategic side and get a little creative with how they approach combat. According to Riot Games, “Imagine this: tactical shooter meets hypernatural powers. Everyone’s got guns and a unique set of abilities, so how do you beat someone with the speed of wind? Use your own moves to outplay them and beat them to the shot. Valorant is a game for bold strategists who dare to make the unexpected play, because if it wins, it works.”

Many are predicting, including some of the top analysts in esports, that Valorant will be the biggest online game for years to come, especially so in the competitive scene. It’s easy to see in the design of the game that it was created with professional players in mind, built in a way that is both enjoyable for players and viewers as well.
