Holiday Gift Guide | Best Gaming Headsets

Astro A20 Gen 2 (Convenience, $120)

One of our favorite headsets we’ve tried out this year has been the Astro A20 Gen 2 thanks to how easy it is to use, and user-friendly it is as a whole. Whether you’re gaming on a PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC over the holidays, the Astro A20 Gen 2 has you covered.

The headset comes with a convenient cross-platform USB accessory that’ll let you quickly pair your wireless headset with your console, or with your PC (Mac also supported). There are two different versions of the Astro A20 Gen 2, one for PlayStation and one for Xbox.

The cross-platform USB will let you plug and play with your Xbox and PC, or your PlayStation PC. If you’re looking to use your headset with both consoles, Astro sells a cross-console USB transmitter for $19.99 (USD) that’ll let you move from Xbox to PlayStation to PC with ease.

Adding to this is the fact that the headset supports USB-C and can be fully charged in around 3 hours. When it’s fully charged, you get 15+ hours of playtime.

It also has other convenient features like a mic that can be muted simply by flipping it up to its resting position. If you’re eating a quick snack while gaming, you can flip the mic up and out of the way, eat your snack, then quickly flip the mic back down to resume chatting with your friends.

It’s fantastic.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless (Audio Quality, $150)

While the HyperX Cloud II Wireless is on the higher end of the price spectrum when compared to other headsets on this list, it certainly has the build and audio quality to back it up.

Audiophiles in particular will appreciate how versatile the Cloud II Wireless is for gaming (competitively and casually), as well as the everyday things you do on your PC like watch movies and listen to music.

The HyperX Cloud II Wireless has some impressive levels of bass that makes music sound rich and full, and you also won’t need to crank the headset up to max volume to appreciate quieter audio like footsteps in a game like Call of Duty.

It helps that the Cloud II Wireless is also wickedly comfortable even if it is a little on the heavier side. You can wear this headset for long gaming marathons, or for a day spent working on PC while listening to music.

We feel like the headset lives up to its $150 price tag when it comes to build quality and some of the other pros it has, but the selling point for us was the sound quality.

We’re serious when we say the Cloud II Wireless sounds seriously amazing.

Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Turtle Beach Recon Spark (Aesthetic, $40 – $50)

The Turtle Beach Spark is arguably one of the most aesthetically pleasing headsets on the market with its white base color and pastel lavender accents.

It’s not overly large and bulky and you’ll look great while wearing it which is great for streamers and YouTubers alike.

If you’re not a huge fan of the cute and cozy purple Spark, the Turtle Beach Recon 70 lineup has a white headset with lime green accents, a white headset with blue accents, and even a dark red headset with black accents, all of which look amazing.

These headsets aren’t super expensive either which makes them solid gift options depending on who you’re buying a headset for and how much money you’re looking to spend.

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Recon Spark are affordable aesthetic headsets taken to the next level and are well worth a closer look.

Razer Kraken X (Affordable, $35 on sale)

Even though the aforementioned Turtle Beach headsets are affordable, the Razer Kraken X offers a little bit more bang for your buck when you’re able to get the headset on sale.

For Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you can pick up the Razer Kraken X for $35 at various retailers including Amazon. The $35 price tag is unbeatable for what you get with the Razer Kraken X in terms of quality and performance.

This little headset isn’t on the level of the Astro A20 or HyperX Cloud II, but if you’re on a budget, the Razer Kraken X is $35 well spent. The headset is also great if you want a lightweight, subtle headset to wear.

Sometimes simplicity is exactly what you need with a headset, and the Kraken X is simple in all of the best possible ways.

SteelSeries Arctis Pro (Comfort, Pro Gaming Headset, $250)

If you’re looking to go all out with your gaming headset purchase and want to focus not only on finding a pro gaming headset that’ll wow you, but also one that’s extremely comfortable, look no further than the SteelSeries Arctis Pro.

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes.

The SteelSeries Arctis Pro hits all of the important points when it comes to things you want in a gaming headset as you’d expect based on its price point.

Audio quality is superb and is stepped up even more with the included GameDAC, the headset design is sleek and extremely comfortable, and you can tell when holding it in your hands that it’s built to last. It’s a beast.

The Arctis Pro + GameDAC will cost you $249.99. However, you can get the headset without the GameDAC for $179.27 on sites like Amazon and purchase the GameDAC later if you want.

We personally recommend getting the Arctis Pro bundled with the GameDAC as the GameDAC is sold separately for $129.99. It’ll only cost you an extra $70.72 to get both bundled together at the $249.99 price point.

You end up saving almost $60 as opposed to getting the headset by itself and then buying the GameDAC later on.
