Yes, V Rising has fishing. After all, who wouldn’t want to take some time off from questing and go fishing by the lake or a river? In this guide, we’ll explain how to fish in V Rising.
Fishing Tools in V Rising
First of all, you need the Fishing Pole. What, you thought you would fish with the spear, net, dynamite, or perhaps, silver harpoons? Maybe touching the silver harpoon is not the smartest idea when you are a Vampire. Let’s, uh… Stick to the basics, okay?
How to Get the Fishing Pole in V Rising
You will need a recipe to craft the Fishing Pole (people don’t sell any, they don’t want you as the competition!). The steps are fairly easy, all you have to do is:
- Defeat Rufus the Foreman
- Craft a Woodworking Bench (if you do not have one by now for any reason)
- Craft the so-desired Fishing Pole
- Find where to cast the hook and the bait
- ???
- Profit!
Where to find Rufus the Foreman in V Rising
Oh, that’s the easy part. Head out to the Bandit Logging Camp which is located in the Farbane Woods. Make sure that you’re over Level 20 (since he’s Level 20) and that you have adequate items, to be safe in the encounter with Mr. Rufus.
On the map, look for this kidney-shaped formation and that’s where you will find the Bandit Logging Camp. Shouldn’t be too difficult to spot. After you drink the blood of Rufus the Foreman, you will get the recipes for the Woodworking Bench and for the Fishing Pole.

After you get the blueprint, you’ll need 60 Animal Hides and 12 Planks. When you have these ready, go back to your Castle, and under the “Crafting” menu you will see the Woodworking Bench.

After you craft the Woodworking Bench, you need 8 Planks, 4 Coarse Threads, and 4 Copper Ingots. Threads are found by looting humans in the open world, and Ingots are made by smelting Ores (you’ll probably need to do some mining).

After all these endeavors, do you still have the strength to actually fish? You can usually find the fishing spots in Dunley Farmlands, Farbane Woods, and Silverlight Hills. Find bubbles in the water (similar to a lot of other RPGs). Once you decide to settle on a place, equip the Fishing Pole you worked so hard for, left-click on the bubbly water, and then when the fish start to bite, click again to reel the fish out. Happy fishing!
