In Genshin Impact 3.0, as you upgrade more of your newly-acquired weapons, you’ll find yourself needing Chaos Storages, Modules and Bolts. While you may have accidentally stumbled upon some throughout your playthrough, knowing exactly where to find them will help you get enough materials to max out your weapons! If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading to discover where to get Chaos Modules in Genshin Impact.
Where to Get Chaos Modules in Genshin Impact
There are three main ways to get Chaos Modules in Genshin Impact:
- Defeating Level 40+ Ruin Drake elite enemies
- Purchasing from Paimon’s Bargains for 15 Masterless Stardust
- Crafted using three Chaos Storages
Paimon’s Bargains
You’ll find Chaos Modules in Paimon’s Bargains. Under the Stardust Exchange, scroll down until you see them in the list. However, you’ll have to spend 15 Masterless Stardust for each module you purchase. If you have plenty to spare, this is a viable but limited method to getting some. Just be careful since you can only buy 12 each month!

Crafting Using Chaos Storages
Another method of getting Chaos Modules is crafting them using Chaos Storages. If you’re done upgrading your weapons, using storages, or have more than you need, you can convert them into modules at a nearby Crafting Bench.
Defeating Level 40 Ruin Drakes in Sumeru
The free way to get Chaos Modules in Genshin Impact is to fight Ruin Drakes. These enemies spawn exclusively in Sumeru, so make sure you’re high enough Adventure Rank to access the region! To unlock Sumeru, you must complete Chapter II: Act IV and be at least Adventure Rank 35.
Since Ruin Drakes are elite enemies, they don’t frequently spawn around the map. Instead, you’ll see them in certain spots throughout Sumeru. Thankfully, there are several notable locations for Ruin Drakes:
- Near Vissudha Field – Check directly north, south and west of the Statue of the Seven.
- Three appear in Ardravi Valley near Devantaka Mountain
- Four spawn in the western section of Ashavan Realm, directly east of the Ruins of Dahri
- East of Sumeru City, just northwest of The Chasm.
If you’d like to see each location in more detail, check out the Genshin Impact Interactive Map.
You’ll also encounter different kinds of Ruin Drakes throughout your adventures. Both Ruin Drake types, Earthguard and Skywatch, drop Chaos Modules. However, ensure that the Ruin Drakes you encounter are at least Level 40! While most will be above this, you’ll also want to watch out for Level 60+ enemies. Since Chaos Bolts drop from high-level drakes, there’s a chance you’ll pick them up too.
