This weekend, starting September 16, 2023, marks the celebration of a transcendent comic book icon known by a variety of monikers. Whether you prefer, the Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, the World’s Greatest Detective, or another alias, it has been over 84 years since Detective Comics #27 landed on newsstands back in May 1939, introducing Batman, a moment that forever shaped the future of comics, pop culture, and (eventually) videogames!
This day of Batman celebration is a prime opportunity to look back and examine the many gaming experiences featuring Bruce Wayne’s crime-fighting alter ego, as well as his iconic allies and foes from the DC Universe. While some say, “you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain,” a few Batman games have proven the phrase wrong, truly standing the test of time as worthy representations of Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s iconic comic book hero in the videogame medium. As of Batman Day 2023, here are the Caped Crusader’s top ten games of all-time, according to critics.
