Let’s think about a few situations for a moment. You hop into Disney Dreamlight Valley to celebrate a new update and Star Path, look at the tasks, and see one to harvest 50 crops. You look at the new furniture crafting options and realize you need 100 pieces of cotton to make everything you want to place into your house. You know you have a ton of farming to do and dread having to dig up a bunch of holes, plant the crops and clean up the land later. With that in mind, you may be glad to know there’s a way to speed up the cleanup process, and I’m happy to share exactly how to do it.
Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Furniture is the Secret to Fast Farming
Farming in Disney Dreamlight Valley generally goes as follows: you dig some holes, plant the seeds, harvest the crop, and then cover the holes, so you don’t have a massive patch of farmland preventing flowers, mushrooms, and other items from spawning. However, if you’ve done this before, especially while farming dozens or even hundreds of pumpkins to make money, you probably dislike the cleanup process afterward. After all, it normally requires you to dig each hole individually. If you do this every day in multiple areas, it takes a surprisingly long time!
At least, it does if you use your shovel. What about using furniture, though?

By placing furniture on these holes and picking it back up, you’ll instantly clear out any holes covered by the item. You can do this with small furniture items for tiny spaces or larger ones like beds if you have a massive farming area. However, you have to do it in a specific sequence:
- Enter the Furniture menu and place the item of your choice on the holes.
- Leave the menu with the furniture still placed down.
- Open the Furniture menu again and pick up the item.
If you skip the second step and pick up the furniture immediately, the holes won’t clear away. On the plus side, that also means you can reverse any mistakes you make while doing this! You can also place multiple items down simultaneously if you want to remove a bunch of land at once.
Interestingly enough, you can also do this with a Wishing Well. By placing the Wishing Well on a plot of land, you’ll instantly clear a 4×4 area and turn your shovel holes back into grass, sand, or the ground type for that region. Doing this also allows you to skip leaving and entering the menu.

The only downside to doing this is that you’ll have to dig the spots a second time if you want to farm again. Keeping a plot of farmland around to save time and energy is helpful if you plan on farming multiple times in one area, such as when planting pumpkins regularly.
It’s also important to consider that this may be patched in future updates. While it still works as of writing, the game is still in Early Access. It is continuously updated over time, meaning that this method may become obsolete in the next major update or during a hotfix in-between. For now, though, there is yet to be any information on whether this will be removed in the future.
