When BioWare and Dark Horse announced that they were teaming up once more for a new Dragon Age comic series focusing on Dragon Age II’s Fenris, I was by far not alone when it came to freaking tf out. There was no chill, only fandom. But what’s better about seeing where our beloved broody elf has gone post-Dragon Age II / Hawke? Hearing what he’s been up to and thanks to voice actor Gideon Emery, the voice of Fenris himself, we’ve got a chance to do just that as he gives one adorable mabari all of the love in the world.
Fenris tells Autumn the Mabari what a good girl she is.
From the new Dragon Age: Blue Wraith comic issue #2, out this week.

Fenris, despite the mixed reception his character received due to his slow-progressing character arc, is one of my all-time favorite characters to come out of Thedas so to see him have his time to shine in a new comic made my heart beyond full. That, and Gideon Emery is one of my favorite actors so … you know, I lost my damned mind.
Say what you will about Dragon Age 2 (and there is a lot to say, those repetitious environmentals were rough), it had some incredible character arcs throughout all three chapters. Fenris started out as a least favourite of mine but quickly rose to the top through his character development, so when Dark Horse announced that my beloved broody Tevinter elf is back and bigger than ever in a brand new post-Inquisition adventure with a new Dragon Age comic, I was beyond hype.
The new comic series is called Dragon Age: Blue Wraith and will see a Fenris set in a time when the hunt for Solas is on. The team behind Dragon Age: Blue Wraith is thankfully similar for those that are familiar with some of the past Dark Horse Dragon Age Comics, featuring writers Nunzio DeFilippis (Dragon Age: Knight Errant, new X-Men) and Christina Weir (Dragon Age: Deception, New X-Men). Artist Fernando Heinz Furukawa (Dragon Age: Knight Errant, God is Dead) is also returning, with the colorist work done by Michael Atiyeh (The Orville: New Beginnings, Halo: Escalation).
According to the description of Dragon Age: Blue Wraith courtesy of Dark Horse:
“Dragon Age: Blue Wraith starts off with the fanatical Qunari seeking to topple the Tevinter mageocracy. Caught in the middle, one powerful young mage’s desperate search for her father brings her face-to-face with a notorious mage hunter—Fenris, the Blue Wraith.”
The new adventure now has two issues to enjoy, including those Mabari fuzzy feels. Are you excited? Because I’m excited. Hit me up and geek out with all things Dragon Age with me over on Twitter @DirtyEffinHippy!
