Legendary Pokemon series developer Game Freak streamed its “Pokemon Presents” presentation for August yesterday, where we saw a lot of news related to their popular franchise. Most importantly, we got a closer look at a pair of new games that represent the continuation of the long-running Pokemon mainline series – Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. What was revealed in the new gameplay trailer? Keep reading to find out.
Everything Revealed in the August Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trailer
The new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet first of all confirmed what was announced earlier, that the new sequel will indeed be set in an open world. These new games will be the first ones in the main series that will change the usual gameplay in many ways. Pokemon battles seem to remain old school, but many of the novelties introduced in the recent Pokemon Legends: Arceus have found their way into these sequels. Scarlet and Violet bring their own Legendary Pokemon, Koraidon and Miraidon, which players will be able to ride like a motorcycle across the new Paldea region. We saw in the trailer that they can also convert into a glider that will allow players to fly above the map, enabling faster traversal in the obviously huge new world.

Also, Scarlet and Violet will bring support for Co-op Adventuring through any of the three main stories in the game. In the trailer, we saw how the players drive and race together in the Paldea region, and participate in new treasure hunts together, which will undoubtedly bring much more fun than going through the campaign solo.
There is also a Harry Potter-like moment with the Academy where the players are enrolled to study, the name of which we do not know yet. But we saw what its campus buildings and classrooms look like, as well as the professor giving a speech to the students and announcing the start of a treasure hunt.

At the end of the short but very packed trailer, we also saw the new Paldean mechanic – Terastal – which makes Pokemon look like shiny crystals, possibly giving them new stronger powers. And of course, new Pokemon species were showcased that will be added to the series for the first time, expanding the already huge Pokedex.
