Intellivision launched its first home video game console back in 1979, making it a staple in gaming history. Now the company is preparing for another huge entry into the platform-verse with their upcoming console: Amico. We sat down with Intellivision CEO Tommy Tallarico during GameDaily Connect 2019 to talk about how the upcoming platform can compete with all of the new systems of next-gen and how it aims to be the perfect bridge between two very different gaming markets.

With the next-generation looming closer with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett, nevermind the inclusion of new players like the Google Stadia, some may find themselves questioning a move into the platform market at this time. The thing to consider about this is not only the Intellivision name in itself and the brand loyalty that lies there but also that it’s not just another gaming platform – it’s one that aims to fill a gap that other consoles currently leave behind.

When many think of the Xbox, they think of shooters. Playstation is usually synonymous with JRPGs and story-heavy single-player games. Blend in Google Stadia that is more geared towards the casual gamer, the Amico aims to hit that sweet spot between casual gamers and hardcore gamers all with a system that’s under 200 dollars and even comes with five free games.

From classic games that we’ve known from decades’ past to more updated experiences, the Amico is designed to be the platform that hardcore gamers can play with casuals – and vice versa. As Tallarico states in the video above, even a pro gamer can pick up a controller and play with their parents while enjoying a fulfilling gaming experience.

As for the upcoming system itself, you can get your hands on the comeback console when it releases on October 10, 2020.
