I’ve put an obscene amount of time into Forza Horizon 5, have entered the Hall of Fame, completed a number of achievements, and have collected over 100 different cars thus far. Of those 100 cars, I probably use a grand total of 5 of them on a regular basis.
The rest sit pretty in my inventory, including my lucky Wheelspin-acquired F1 GT McClaren worth 15,000,000 Credits. Gorgeous car, but do I want to actually drive around in it? No, no I don’t.
Given how people have ranked the best cars in the game, the worst cars, the most interesting, things of that nature, I figured it’d be fun to rank the Predictably Average™ cars in Forza Horizon 5 that I use on a regular basis.
Note that before you dig into this feature, I’m not trying to be serious here. This isn’t a serious list that you should use when deciding which cars are worth buying in Forza Horizon 5… unless you really want to of course.
Nothing I can do to stop you, especially when I can’t even stop myself.
Rating The Predictably Average Cars I Use In Forza Horizon 5
Mitsubishi EVO X GSR (10/10)
I present to you the only car I can manage to win races in anymore, the Mitsubishi EVO X GSR. Which is surprising to me as I’ve done a small bit of tuning on it, but not nearly as much as I’ve done to other vehicles I use.
The same goes for the design, I’ve kept it the same color as my real-life Mitsubishi Lancer… white. A color that screams “I’m boring and plain” just like what Mitsubishi has become in recent years with its endless lineup of mediocre SUVs.
At least Mitsubishi’s legacy can live on in games like Forza Horizon 5 with cars that actually get the job done like the EVO X GSR. I give it a 10/10 because I’m extremely biased, but also because it deserves it.
Honda Civic Type R (8/10)
This is one I tuned all the way up because I wanted a car that I could use to bulldoze my way through the off-road areas of Mexico and not care what happens to it. The Honda Civic Type R is perfect for that.
I can’t tell you how many trees I’ve slammed into in the Civic Type R, but it’s a lot. Tree after tree after rock, the Civic keeps on going like nothing happened, which is just like how Hondas are in real life.
You can beat them to hell and they’ll keep on going, and going, and going. As for why I rated it an 8 out of 10, the in-game Civic is honestly a bit meh until you give it a proper tuning. To me anyway – these are all just personal opinions, and bad ones at that.
“Brocky” Ultra4 Bronco RTR (7/10)
Forza Horizon 5 has a lot of Bonus Boards in awkward, hard to reach places. To properly launch myself off hills onto rooftops and such, I always turn to the Ultra4 Bronco. Efficient? Yes. Persistent? Yes.
Oddly good at getting into spots other cars struggle to reach for some reason? Yes. Exciting to drive around in? Not in the slightest, so it gets a 7 out of 10 from me. Not even a fancy paint job and tuning improvements can make me feel like continuing to use the Bronco after I’ve grabbed the Bonus Boards I’m after.
Hoonigan Ford Escort RS Cosworth WRC “Cossie V2” (6/10)
Not all Hoonigans are average, but this one sure is for some reason. I’ve heard so many great things about Hoonigans, so what the heck is going on with the Cossie V2? Did it miss the memo?
It does what it needs to do for sure, but it takes its own sweet time to do it. It’s like that coworker you love to pieces who always shows up fifteen minutes late for work sipping on a large iced coffee from Dunkin’.
In spite of everything though, I keep returning to it over and over again, and have grown strangely attached to the Cossie and the ridiculous design I picked for it. Much love for the Cossie, it’s doin’ its goddamn best, ok?
SLK 55 AMG Mercedes (5/10)
Why, I ask myself, why do I continue to gravitate towards this particular Mercedes when I have so many other, better Mercedes options in my inventory? I’m still trying to figure that one out.
Especially when the SLK 55 looks like a car a rich person would own to decorate their garage with while they drive other showboat cars like the Range Rover.
It’s also a car I definitely wouldn’t be allowed to test drive (or get within five feet of) if I walked into a Mercedes dealership with my cheap jeans from Target and used Nikes from a secondhand store in California that I got for a ridiculously low price after I soaked my other pair of shoes in the ocean.
Long story, somewhat amusing, but also not relevant.
Anyway, the car does a solid job in races, handles well, is fun to drive, and makes me feel like I’m someone who’s doing well in life money wise and for me that’s the ultimate fantasy.
