OH VALLEY OF PLENTY! Ahem, right. So yeah, anyway – to say that The Witcher Netflix series’ “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” (thanks, Jaskier) has been a huge hit would be a massive hit. In fact, it’s such a fan-favorite that there’s a new petition asking for the song to play during Super Bowl 2020. Take that, Geralt.
Sounds random, right? Well, not so much. During a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel, Henry Cavill, who played Geralt himself, told the host that Superman would be hugely into the Kansas City Chiefs. This episode went down last month as part of the big press push for the TV series and while it seemed pretty inconsequential, show fans decided to take his small comment to the next level. Enter the petition.
The Toss a Coin to Your Witcher petition is now live on Change.org and it wants to take the song-turned-meme into the center-stage star during the Super Bowl half-time show, a performance that is a huge honor and is a massive centerpiece to the entire event. Since Cavill is a huge Chiefs fan, the creator of the petition cited that love for the reason for this call to arm’s creation.
According to Max Hicks and the petition’s description:
“Henry Cavill’s favorite team is the Chiefs. This is due to the fact that Superman is from Kansas, and Cavill stated that it would likely be Clark Kent’s favorite team, therefore it’s his.
“Since the Chiefs are in the Superbowl, and the end of 2019 had a release of the Witcher; we should celebrate by playing the song in honor of a notable Chiefs fan.”
So … yeah, there’s that. As for the show itself that’s inspired such loyalty, The Witcher TV series is now available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
