Rumor: Grand Theft Auto 6 Leak Reveals Possible 2020 Release, Possible Locations

If the latest rumor is true, Grand Theft Auto 6 could be arriving next year.

Now that Rockstar has given Red Dead Redemption 2 some time to breathe, fans of the studio are clamoring for any new details on a possible new Grand Theft Auto. There have been whispers regarding the rumored next game for awhile now, though Rockstar themselves have remained mum. Thanks to a recent developer leak, we may have just gotten some interesting clues as to what’s next for the GTA franchise.

A recent anonymous posting from a “third party small developer from EU” posted up some interesting details about the alleged next GTA entry. According to the alleged dev, the game could be releasing in 2020 as a launch title for the PlayStation 5, which seems to indicate that the PS5 is indeed slated for a next year launch as well.

According to the leak, the PS5 will supposedly release in March of next year, with GTA 6 launching in November, though they mentioned that those dates are not finalized. It’s important to note that this is an anonymous tip and that anyone can claim to be a developer, so take all information in this report with a grain of salt until Rockstar says otherwise.

They also mentioned that the two biggest cities as a focus for the next game is a toss up between Miami and New York. Miami has come up quite a bit in the rumor mill about Grand Theft Auto 6 for obvious reasons, so it’s not a bad shot in the dark. They also allege that Sony has a deal with the new GTA for a 1-month exclusivity deal regarding content, which again wouldn’t be a first for the studio.

As mentioned, this is simply a rumor until we can get confirmation. We’ve reached out to Rockstar for comment, though the studio is well-known for being able to keep a tight-lid on announcements.
