In a development collaboration with Shantae studio WayForward, Nintendo was set to reintroduce the Advance Wars series this year. Unfortunately, like many other notable games, Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp has to retreat into next year.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp Delayed to 2022
In a tweet from the official Nintendo of America account, the company has announced Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp will be missing its originally planned December 3 release date. The game now has a projected release window of Spring 2022.
This is only one of several games now set to release during the early months of 2022, making that February through March period look pretty crowded. This is just conjecture, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more release date shuffling after the new year, simply to prevent games from bumping elbows. But we’ll see when the time comes.
Hello, troops! #AdvanceWars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was set to launch on 12/3, will now release for #NintendoSwitch in spring 2022. The game just needs a little more time for fine tuning. You’ll be battling with Andy & friends soon! Thanks for your patience. pic.twitter.com/dSi8VSsxTH

Co-developed by WayForward, Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp is exactly what it sounds like: a remake of the “first” two Advance Wars games previously released for the Game Boy Advance. These are actually games seven and eight of the Famicom Wars series, which has been running since, well, the Famicom. These were the first entries localized in English, of course.
Advance Wars has been dormant since the Nintendo DS, and a sort of spinoff series on the GameCube and Wii called Battalion Wars. The last Advance Wars title was Days of Ruin, released back in 2008.
