Battlefield 2042 Season One Pushed to Summer 2022, New Update Arriving Soon

You're going to have to wait a little longer.

It’s been a rocky ride for Battlefield 2042 since its launch last November. The game had connection issues, bugs, a short supply of content, and more. Since then, the team at DICE has rolled out a number of hotfixes to try and reduce the bugs and instability in matchmaking, but fans have been asking when the new content is coming.

Battlefield 2042 Season One Pushed to Summer 2022, New Update Arriving Soon

After a bit of silence, DICE announced the plans for Battlefield 2042 this morning. You can read the full statement below.

The team will be focusing on three main goals for the short term.

  • Scoreboard: A refresh to the in-round scoreboard to separate your own team versus the enemy team. Adding your kill/death ratio to the scoreboard will come in a later update
  • Voice Communication: In-game voice chat for players.
  • Player Profile: More details on your Battlefield career and how close you are to your next rank.

This will also include a refined ping system, an improved reward loop for playing the objective, and some gunplay tweaks.

Further down the line will be the start of Season One of Battlefield 2042. Originally slated for early this year, the team at DICE is pushing it to Summer 2022. Once Season one begins this will be the start of four season a year, new weapons, Specialists, and more.

If you’ve purchased the Year One Pass already, DICE is giving players an exclusive bundle containing a Specialist skin, weapon, and vehicle skins, as well as a melee weapon and Player Card.

Battlefield 2042 is going to need a lot of time to get to where it needs to be, and this is just the start.
