Capcom has admitted its embarrassment after a typo appeared on the box art of Resident Evil: Revelations, mislabelling it “Revelaitons”.
90,000 copies of the game were shipped with the spelling error on the spine.
“It’s embarrassing. I can’t really sugarcoat it,” Capcom US exec Christian Svensson told Game Informer.
“I can’t even tell you how many people looked at that package and approved it. Nintendo of America, Nintendo Japan, ESRB, I don’t know how many people internally, and our guys in Japan. I can’t come up with an excuse for it. It just happened. We’re not happy about it.”
In happier news for Capcom, Resident Evil 6 pre-orders are looking healthy. “Pre-orders for Resident Evil 6 are off to a fantastic start,” Svensson revealed. “The best start a Resident Evil game has ever had.”
Another typo recently graced Capcom’s Asura’s Wrath boxart, promising “near-impossible chanllenges”, while a trailer for Steel Battalion referred to the company as “Capcpom”.
“There are only about 90,000 units that have the [Revelaitons] misprint,” Svensson noted. “If you’ve got it and it’s shrink-wrapped, that’s a new special edition, that’s our new strategy.”
