Control & Hitman 3 Coming to Nintendo Switch via The Cloud

All up in them clouds.

It seems that the Nintendo Switch cloud streaming feature, which was exclusive to Japan, has come stateside in a strange turn of events. During the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase Nintendo announced that both Control and Hitman 3 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch using this cloud streaming technology.

With more graphically demanding games, it makes sense Nintendo would try to figure out a way to get these games to come to the Switch. While it’s not the best situation for a console that sells itself has both a console and a handheld it’s something.

Obviously, you won’t be able to play these games without a reliable internet connection. It’s also important to note that this is the Ultimate Edition of the game, which includes both of the post-launch expansions.

You can read a little more about the game below.

“Winner of more than 80 awards, Control is a visually stunning third-person action-adventure that will keep players on the edge of their seat. Blending open-ended environments with the signature world-building and storytelling of developer Remedy Entertainment, Control presents an expansive and intensely gratifying gameplay experience. Control Ultimate Edition – Cloud Version* is available now on Nintendo Switch!”

While Control Ultimate Edition is out today, Hitman 3 doesn’t officially release until January, with no additional information on if the Switch version will launch the same day.

Here’s some more information on Hitman 3.

Hitman 3 is the first time the Hitman series has been on Nintendo Switch and represents the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy. Whether players are new to the franchise or familiar with the series, they’ll enjoy a globetrotting adventure to sprawling sandbox locations as Agent 47 returns for the most important contracts of his entire career.”

Either way, this is certainly not what many people expected. Hopefully, this cloud-based technology will continue to thrive on Nintendo Switch and give players more choices where they play their games.
