The 8-player Skyrim Together mod offers a chance for Elder Scrolls fans to take to the world of Tamriel with a friend without having to abandon the game we love in favor of The Elder Scrolls Online. Unfortunately for those excited for this project, they suffered a major setback back in January when it was discovered that much of their code was stolen without permission from the Skyrim Script Extender mod. Luckily, the team took responsibility and scrubbed the code clean, and now they’re back and ready to get this done once and for all.
Reddit user ‘IJustWantSteamDosh’ took to the forum to provide an update on where the mod is currently. Following the below bullet points for the current state of the mod, the user added “I would love to give you specifics of the report but It’s mostly focused on recent drama and future plans / current status of project. I’m personally trying to distance myself from the drama as much as possible; it isn’t my battle and I don’t want to be apart of it.”
As far as where they are at currently:
- Entire codebase scrapped
- Project still being worked on
- New approach to how release is being considered
Though the setback is unfortunate, it’s nice to see the drama come to an end. Before a resolution was found, there was a lot of “he said, she said” and loose interpretations as far as script property goes. Now that the code has been scrubbed and they are rethinking their approach, hopefully the team can stay on track and release the co-op experience that many are craving.
