Dark Souls is Finally Coming to Nintendo Switch

Rumors have swirled for the past year, and now Dark Souls fans can rest easy—at least for now.

The original Dark Souls is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Rumors were put to rest today when Nintendo and Bandai Namco announced the arrival of Dark Souls: Remastered for the Nintendo Switch. The new, remastered version of the game will arrive on May 25, and it has everything Dark Souls fans need to enjoy the full experience at home or on the go.

Dark Souls: Remastered will also launch with the Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content included, as well as improved framerate and resolution. It will also mark the first time that the Dark Souls series has ever appeared on a Nintendo console, as well as the series first entry into the portable gaming market.

Dark Souls originally released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2011. When it was finally ported over to the PC in 2012, the game continued to grow, receiving even more critical and commercial success. It spawned two additional sequels, the latest of which released on consoles and PC in early 2016. Rumors of a Dark Souls game on the Nintendo Switch have been brewing for quite a while now, and it’s great to see the game finally make a jump to Nintendo’s portable console.

Dark Souls: Remastered isn’t the only thing coming to Switch this year, though, and fans can also look forward to the arrival of several other titles like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and The World Ends With You: Final Remix. On top of coming to the Nintendo Switch, Dark Souls: Remastered was also announced for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
