Destiny 2, a longstanding looter shooter set in space, is a game that is built around its expansive world, unique combat system, and fantastic story. And while it’s recently released Season 19, players are looking into the future towards Lightfall, Destiny 2’s much promoted next expansion. Here’s what the new Destiny 2 Lightfall trailer revealed.
Destiny 2’s Lightfall Game Awards 2022 Trailer Showcases New Class Supers, Locations, and More
Lightfall will bring guardians to Neptune, a new planet for Guardians to visit. Neptune is also the home of the neon city Neomuna and their Cloud Striders. Cloud Striders are humans who have sacrificed a portion of their life to use bionic implants, which offer them abilities that make them capable of protecting their society. An inverse of guardians, who have little choice but to stand for humanity and live eternally.
Cloud Striders have lived in Neomuna on Neptune for decades, perhaps centuries. But The Witness has ascertained that a powerful artifact is in the possession of the Neomuna people on Neptune and so strife and death are sure to follow. To protect this new, glowing city, the Cloud Striders and Guardians will have to come together to stand against The Witness and their armies.
The latest trailer, revealed at The Game Awards 2022, offered a little more insight into Neomuna and some of the new features that the expansion will offer. Most significant among them being the new subclass: Strand.

The Lightfall trailer also shows the three class supers that Strand will offer. The Warlock is able to lift and freeze all enemies in the vicinity, the Hunter gets a whip which, like the Warlock, can do area of effect damage. The Titan is able to conjure blades on the ends of both arms and then, predictably, charges at the enemy to obliterate them. Strand is also extremely neon green, which fits the aesthetic of Neomuna. But is this the reason why the Gambit Jadestone Shader lost some of its luster?
We’ll likely learn more about the Lightfall expansion as we get closer to its release date on February 28, 2023.
