You can download the Definitive Edition of Divinity: Original Sin 2 for free if you own the game.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 released last year to critical and consumer praise. Despite the high praise it received, though, developer Larian Studios is looking to make the game even better, releasing a ton of new changes in Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition, which is now available for PC players for absolutely nothing.

There are a lot of changes available in the update, and the official patch notes can be seen in detail on the game’s website. To give you an idea of some things you can expect, though, we’ve included a snippet of the patch notes below.

  • The Lobby interface has been updated and is now more readable and accessible.
  • The hero picking screen in Arena Mode has a new and improved interface.
  • Mutators have been added to Arena Mode. They will add a surprise element to various battle encounters.
  • Several sound events and music triggers for players’ chosen instruments have been revamped and adjusted.
  • Several reported user interface issues have been resolved.
  • Game stability has been improved by eliminating gameplay, multiplayer and loading crashes.
  • Quest flow issues and journal updates have been revamped for clarity.
  • Several localization issues in text and interface have been resolved.
  • Several performance improvements have been made.
  • Texture streaming has been optimized.

The update for the Definitive Edition rolls in at around 8GB, bringing with it a ton of improvements to streamline the overall experience and clean up some of the bugs that have plagued the game since it originally released. If you’re playing it on console, then you’ll be receiving the Definitive Edition by default. However, if you’re playing on PC, you can now choose between the Classic and Definitive Editions of the game. Keep in mind that the save files for each version won’t work with the others, so you’ll need to stick to one version for the smoothest experience.

The Definitive Edition of the game is available right now, so go ahead and dive into it and try everything out. We’re excited to replay it and see all the changes in action.
