Following the events after the Trespasser DLC in Dragon Age Inquisition, inquiring minds are aching to jump back into Thedas to square off against a certain egg and make their way into the land of blood magic and mages with Tevinter. Unfortunately, following the teaser trailer two years ago for Dragon Age 4, news has been pretty mum. Luckily, producer Mark Darrah provided a small update for fans.
Darrah took to Twitter with a new thread stating that the team is very much making progress on Dragon Age 4, but being forced to work from home due to COVID-19 has had its predictable complications. Uprooting the entire development process has been hard on many studios, but the good news is that this move hasn’t halted progress completely.
I realize that most of you are here for Dragon Age news and there hasn’t been a lot of that lately…
Let me just run down some things I an say:
1. We are working on the next Dragon Age
2. Yes we are working from home
3. Working from home is harder
4. We are making progress— Mark Darrah (@BioMarkDarrah) July 22, 2020
If for some reason the above tweet is removed or not showing up properly, he mentioned: “I realize that most of you are here for Dragon Age news and there hasn’t been a lot of that lately. Let me just run down some things I can say”:
1. We are working on the next Dragon Age
2. Yes we are working from home
3. Working from home is harder
4. We are making progress
COVID-19 has been an ongoing issue since March when it truly hit its stride of pandemic levels. While many areas around the world are seeing vast improvements, others are still struggling with getting population compliance in working order to get to the next step of recovery. Still, many companies are making do with the sudden pivot, and we can only hope that this move does not cause the dev teams to crunch even harder to deliver the games we want most.

Unfortunately, at this time, we still don’t know a whole lot about Dragon Age 4. The last time we received any sort of official word about the highly anticipated title was back in 2018 at The Game Awards. We know that Solas is coming back and given the nature of Inquisition’s Trespasser ending and the corresponding comics, it’s clear that the next game in this franchise will be rooted in Tevinter; home of the blood mages. It also gave us hunks like Dorian and Fenris, so we can’t be too mad at it.

Dragon Age 4 is currently in development with no release date in sight. What are your thoughts where the series will go from here?
