An upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie delay means fans are going to have to wait a lot longer for those big-screen adventures! As with many other notable movie delays, the D&D movie experience is being pushed back due to COVID-19 complications, thus moving it from its original November 19 for 2021 until 2022.
According to Paramount Pictures, via Christian Hoffer, the reason for the Dungeons & Dragon movie delay is because of filming concerns rising over the continued spread of COVID-19, or the coronavirus as it is often debased to. With so many around the world still in quarantine, despite certain locations easing up prematurely, getting an entire cast and crew together is near impossible. While we hope that by 2021 this virus would be contained, there are a lot of steps between concept and release that need to be accomplished before a movie is ready to be seen by the world. It’s because of those complications that the Dungeons & Dragons movie delay has been pushed back to May 27th, 2022.
First time hearing about the Dungeons & Dragons movie at all? Paramount has been keeping the details of the film close to its chest but the common consensus is that it will be heavily focused within the Forgotten Realms campaign. For those familiar with this particular narrative, that means that the Dungeons & Dragons movie will center around the eye of Vecna artifact in addition to Palarandusk, a Golden Dragon renowned for its power and abilities.
Dungeons & Dragons has seen a whirlwind of success since it launched decades ago and in recent years this particular tabletop paradise has seen a massive surge in mainstream popularity. This growth is in no small part due to the love of Critical Role and Geek & Sundry, making it easier for those interested to jump right into the world of mysticism and adventure.

We don’t have a cast list at this time for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie but it’s fair to speculate that it will have a massively high budget due to it being Paramount and such a widely beloved property.
