As if Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua Sacrifice wasn’t scary enough, the harrowing action-adventure game is getting full VR support next week, according to an announcement today. The VR Edition of Hellblade will be available on Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on Tuesday, July 31.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition will be available as a free update for those who own or purchase the base game on Steam. Hellblade originally released in August 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC to critical acclaim, earning awards in multiple categories during the 2018 BAFTA Awards.
Hellblade combines exploration, puzzle solving, and combat with an engaging narrative about a warrior struggling with mental illness. Senua, the game’s protagonist, is portrayed by Melina Juergen, who masterfully conveys the perspective of a warrior who constantly battles with the most vicious inner demons.
The game is set in a Norse-inspired fantasy setting full of hellish creatures and breathtaking visuals that will only be amplified in VR. If you plan on playing the free VR Edition of Hellblade, keep in mind that the developers recommend having at least an Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card to run the game in VR, according to their announcement video above.
