We often harp on sports games for failing to capture the intensity not only of the virtual players, but also the crowd. While the former often act like robots and have few if any interactions with their fellow computer-controlled athletes, the 18,000 or so attendees often cheer at the most inopportune moments, if they cheer at all.
All of this changes with FIFA 15, due out September 23rd for multiple platforms, including Xbox One and PlayStation 4, where it will likely shine the brightest.
We begin with the 22 players on the pitch, all of whom have an emotional reaction to each other. Players repeatedly fouled by others may act aggressively towards the dirty footballers, while teammates will either celebrate a striker for making a key goal, or throw up their hands in disgust as he misses repeated attempts; the list of emotions includes tired, happy, sad and calm, among others.
In addition, the crowd is even more into the matches than usual. You can expect signature chants and animations depending on the club and/or country. Case in point, and this will probably blow your mind if you play FIFA, Manchester City fans do the Poznan! Even better, the commentators react to it.
You’ll see all of this and more in the all-new emotion and intensity FIFA 15 trailer from EA Sports. Seriously, September 23rd can’t come soon enough.
