Grand Theft Auto 6 release date info has been a hot topic among the gaming community and lord knows we have had plenty of story leaks from a variety of different sources, including former developers. With Red Dead Redemption 2 having been out now for awhile, it’s only natural that eyes would turn then to Rockstar’s other big franchise, but when are we actually getting it?
According to a former Rockstar Games employee Darion Lowenstein, Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t coming “anytime soon” and is instead looking at a holiday 2021 launch. This would make sense with Rockstar’s vision of next-gen, though we will say the light at that end of the tunnel is 2021 is much sooner than some of the other dates that have been floating around.
As with all leaks, rumors, and insider info, take everything with a grain of salt until the studio themselves confirm the good news. As for the bad news, the ex-Rockstar dev also confirmed that rumors of a GTA reveal this February are completely false, so we can just stow that excitement away for a future date.
As far as previous rumors go, there have been a plenty! From a mob, time-traveling narrative to one exclusively about drug movements, the theories about what’s next have been rampant. One rumor that has remained consistent however is which locations will be a major focus point:
- Liberty City
- Vice City
- Rio de Neve
- Republic of Castellana
- People’s Republic of del Castro
- Mexico
We’ve also heard rumblings of a female protagonist, but Rockstar has yet to confirm anything related to Grand Theft Auto 6 and its release date at this time.
