The latest update for Fortnite is here, bringing new weapons, changes, and more to Battle Royale and Save the World.

Fortnite has made a name for itself as both a survival, crafting game as well as a battle royale game. Now, as we head into the holidays, Epic Games is turning up the heat and amping things up a bit. With the introduction of Season 2 of Battle Royale comes the Survive the Holidays event, which carries over to both the Battle Royale and Save the World portions of the game, and players have a lot to look forward to as they hunker down in the snow-filled days to come.

There are, as always, quite a few changes to go through, and to make things easier we won’t be going over them all in this article. Instead, we’ll highlight the biggest changes, and talk a little about them. We’ve already covered the introduction of the Battle Pass, a new way for players in Battle Royale to get their hands on XP, new heroes, and even new gear like Gliders and Pickaxes. Now, though, let’s talk about the other big changes coming to Battle Royale.

Battle Royale Changes

One of the biggest changes coming to Battle Royale with the Survive the Holidays update is to introduction of the Snowball Grenade Launcher, a festive Battle Bus, and several other gifts that can be found hidden around the island.

The Battle Bus that drops players into the game world is now covered with lights and other decorations, making it even more of a flying miracle than it was before. Players can also paint the town white with the Snowball Grenade Launcher, which is sure to create some festive battles as we head into the holidays. You can check out the launcher in the trailer below.

Players will also now have the option to unlock emotes and emoticons, which can be rewarded via the Battle Pass or purchased via the shop. You can equip up to six of these items, which will allow you to trigger them in-game on the fly. So, if you’ve been pining to dance on the bodies of your dead enemies, then now is the time to shine.

Of course, there are a ton of additional changes coming to Battle Royale, so be sure to check out the full version 1.11 patch notes for all the juicy details.

Save the World Changes

If Battle Royale isn’t your cup of tea, then you’re probably one of the thousands that spend their days fending off the creatures of the Storm, working to constantly build up your base and make it stronger. There are quite a few changes coming to this mode, too, so let’s look at those to see what survival players have to look forward to with the Survive the Holidays update.

The biggest thing coming to Save the World is the new Holiday Survival Event, which tasks players with helping Ray as they bring up the holiday spirit in everyone. There are new versions of the mini-bosses like the Husk, Husky, and Smasher—all of which will have up to four randomized gameplay modifiers to help keep things fresh.

There’s also a new Winter Survival map in the Survive the Storm mode, and players can now skip an entire day by voting. You’ll also have two different versions of survival to choose from now—3 or 7 days—so players will have even more chances to challenge themselves and their defenses.

On top of the new map and voting system, players will also find new generators which are more resilient, but can’t be fixed out in the field. The generator’s placement will also now differ from game to game.

These are pretty big changes for Fortnite, and no matter which version of the game you play, you’re sure to find plenty of useful information in the full patch notes for the Survive the Holiday event. Make sure you don’t miss out on this event, and enjoy everything that Fortnite has to offer this holiday season.
