Gran Turismo has made a big impact on PlayStation consoles over the years, and it’s grown into quite the phenomenon, with realistic driving physics, a huge offering of cars and outstanding visuals. Now it’s about to rev up a whole new medium – movies.
Sony announced that it is putting together a feature adaptation based on the Gran Turismo franchise, according to a report from The Wrap. The publisher has signed Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, the producers behind the forthcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, to handle the film’s production.
This is the latest racing game headed to film, following Dreamworks’ announcement of a movie based on EA’s Need For Speed franchise, which will feature Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul.
There’s no word yet on a screenwriter or director for Gran Turismo, but more details should be released in the months ahead.
Meanwhile, you can get your racing fix with Gran Turismo 6 later this year for PlayStation 3. A GT Academy-backed demo is available now for download on PlayStation Network.
