The world was introduced to Half-Lyfe: Alyx back in November of last year, though we didn’t know when we would be able to get our hands on the newest City 17 adventure. Thankfully, Valve just shared that news and now we’ve got our calendars marked for when the latest journey begins.
Half-Life: Alyx is officially dropping on March 23rd on Steam. As one would expect, this is a PC-only title given the nature of Valve, making it the first time Half-Life has been back in the forefront of gaming outside of memes and third-party projects.

When Valve first revealed Alyx, the horror elements are easily seeable with a few moments of levity sprinkled throughout the debut trailer. The upcoming VR game will put players in the shoes of Alyx Vance, a character that is meant to be the last hope for humanity when going up against the terrifying alien race knows as the Combine.
According to Valve, “Playing as Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance for survival. The Combine’s control of the planet since the Black Mesa incident has only strengthened as they corral the remaining population in cities. Among them are some of Earth’s greatest scientists: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.
“As founders of a fledgling Resistance, you’ve continued your clandestine scientific activity—performing critical research, and building invaluable tools for the few humans brave enough to defy the Combine.”
Between the challenging new puzzles and horrifying storyline, Alyx aims to give a new Half-Life experience while providing something entirely new to the fanbase at the same time. As for which platforms Half-Life: Alyx will be compatible with for those that don’t want to shell out a ton of cash for Index:
Half-Life: Alyx is available to pre-order now through Steam exclusively on PC ahead of its March 23rd release date. You can also check out the full reveal trailer below:
