News comes after much umming and aaahing from the development team on the mater. Co-op campaigns are started through the campaign option on the start screen. Select the network you’re using and then you’ll be put into a lobby to await your friends. After you’ve got enough in there then you’ll be able to select a game save to choose where to start from, or, of course, you can just start a new campaign. It won’t, however, be possible to join the game midway through a session.

You’ll be able to use split-screen for two players a console, with another two on another screen playing through System Link or Live.

For the sake of realism the players won’t be comprised of copies of the Master Chief. Arbiter and two newly created Elite characters will make up the other players.

The first of the new players is known as N’Tho ‘Sraom, a Sangheili. He’s a young ‘un with nothing to lose, mad at the politicians who allowed the Jiralhanae packs to take the place of Sangheili. Word has it that he thinks highly of the human race as we show resolve and audacity.

The last new character is also a Sangheili, he’s named Usze ‘Taham and has received some pretty good sword training from his dad. He passed war college with honors and was twice invited to join the Royal Guard but declined on both occasions. His attitude has caused him to receive significant punishment and he’s even had attempts on his life.

Usze ‘Taham was asked by the Ascetics to join their team after the Covenant dissolved.

The characters will all carry the same stats but start with different weapons.

Keep coming back for more news on Halo 3 as we get it.
