One of the best companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally getting a better ending. In Patch 2, Karlach will have another epilogue option that leads to a much better fate for the Tiefling with a heart of bolts and iron. Karlach will be the first of any BG3 companions to receive changes in the epilogue, and she certainly needed it the most.
As for Karlach, Larian Studios stated, “We’ve started expanding the epilogues and you’ll see the first results of that in Patch 2 with the addition of a new optional ending with Karlach. It’s fiery, poignant, and gives her the ending she deserves.” Beyond that, we don’t really know what the full ending for Karlach will look like.

In the current state of Baldur’s Gate 3, there really is no way to save Karlach by the end. Every companion has an abrupt ending, but hers feels especially rushed or unsatisfying. This update will likely add another epilogue option with the right choices that lead to a more complete ending for our favorite Tiefling.
Patch 2 for BG3 is set to release in early September or the very end of August. I would expect to see the patch drop when early access goes live for PlayStation on August 31 or with the full release on September 6.
