The Last of Us, the latest development from the team at Naughty Dog (the folks who did Uncharted), has intrigued us for months, ever since we saw its intense trailer at E3 and, most recently, gameplay in action at a behind-closed-doors event. But now the wait is just about over, as the team officially announced a launch date for the game on Friday during the Spike Video Game Awards.
The game will be hitting stores (and PSN, we assume) on May 7th, and the official box art, which we’ve included part of above, also reveals a strong dramatic angle. There’s also a new game trailer, which you can also view by going over to the PlayStation blog.
On top of that, two pre-order bonuses have also been revealed. The Sights and Sounds Pack, which will be offered through various retailers, will give players access to the official soundtrack of the game, a PS3 dynamic theme, and a pair of Avatar images, featuring Winter Joel and Ellie. Also coming is a Survival Pack, offered through GameStop, which will have a multiplayer melee attack booster, bonus XP for multiplayer, and other goods.
This is gonna go fast, so get your pre-orders in now!
